This elegant velvet cushion has a hand-printed pale gold and black thistle decoration at its centre. Symbolising Scotland for over centuries, the thistle is the national flower; it is also steeped in lore and mythology. An oft-told legend says a Viking warrior stumbled upon a thistle, who then released a loud scream and gave away their presence - thus, saving Scotland! Though spiky in appearance, the thistle is a traditional sign of hospitality and warmth.
All of our cushions include a luxurious feather insert.

Noted for surreal and provocative textiles & wallpapers, Timorous Beasties was founded in Glasgow in 1990 by Alistair McAuley & Paul Simmons. Their work can be seen as a wayward take on the often “twee” world of textiles, with heavily illustrative insects, ‘triffid’-like plants, birds and other animals.
