The Goldfinch might be the most famous bird in the world. The original painted image from Fabritius has been enhanced and the bird is surrounded with lush pastel coloured flowers for the mug. The gold coloured handle is a reference to the Golden Age, a period in time during which Dutch painters created their best masterpieces that are still admired today. Carel Fabritius was seen as one of the founders of the Delft School, just like Johannes Vermeer was.
