The painting Girl with a pearl earring might be the most famous painting by Johannes Vermeer. The original portrait has been enhanced with stunning floral decor in pastel colours around her. The gold colored handle is a reference to the Golden Age, a period in time during which Dutch painters created their best masterpieces that are still admired today.
